The first round of MPO competition had only Magnuss Mukins under par followed closely by Jaan Kuusaru, Paul Sterk and Filip Olejnik. The second round was all about the chasing cards though as Rick van Eijndhoven threw a -3 to leap into a tie for 3rd with Dominik Pell. Jasper Sluimer came roaring back in the second round to tie Magnuss and took down the win. Sluimer jammed a death putt on the first playoff hole that Mukins could not match and thus secured his first MPO NT victory!
In the FPO division it was Tetiana Artemchyk who bested Rebekka Nerger by 10 strokes to win the first competition of the year. This was Tetiana’s 13th career win in only 22 events!
The lowest scores of the day belonged to the MP40 division. In fact, all three podium finishers in MP40 would have won MPO outright! The day started with Bert Brader shooting a 993 rated 53 (-3) in a first round filled with 360 degree drives and big putts. Rens Ageterberg, Dean Schaub, and Tim van de Wiel joined Brader on the lead card for the second round. Brader would falter early with a few OB strokes, letting Rens and Dean leapfrog him early and never look back. Agterberg held the advantage throughout the second round, playing nearly mistake free golf to win at a total of -5 for the day, followed by Schaub at -4 and Brader at -2. This was Rens’ 41st career win and he jumped out to an early lead in the year long points battle in what is shaping up to be the most competitive division on tour!
